Sarelakou Roumbina

Rubina Sarelakou was born in Athens in 1950. Initially she studied with the painters P. Sarafianos, N. Nikolaou and G. Moralis. The Engraving Laboratory of Α.Σ.Κ.Τ. with teacher the painter - engraver K. Grammatopoulos (1969-1974). She continued her studies at the Ecole des Beaux - Arts in Paris with teacher G. Dayez (1974-1976). She has presented her work in many solo exhibitions as well as in group and international exhibitions in Greece and abroad. For many years he taught Free Drawing and Color at the Vakalo School of Art and Design. She was a founding member of the "Art and Philosophy Group", where he taught painting and engraving.
In 1980 she was awarded by the Academy of Athens for her engraving work, following a proposal by the Academics: sculptor G. Pappas, painter N. Hatzikyriakou-Gika and art historian P. Prevelakis. In 1985 she was awarded the Award for Engraving, by the House of Letters and Arts. In 1986 she was honored with the First Engraving Award of the Takis Tranoulis Foundation. In 1987 she was awarded an honorary distinction at the International Engraving Biennale of Berlin Intergrafik ‘87.
In 2000 he designed the sets for the play by Tennessee Williams, Outcry, directed by Theodoros Grampsas, at the Modern Greek Theater of George Armenis. He also creates videos (Tango. FM Records, 2005 - Patmos: another journey, 2007 - Video series from Crete, 2006 - 2009). Her works exist in public and private collections in Greece and abroad. She is married to the sculptor Kyriakos Rocco and they have two sons, Stefanos Roko (painter) and Dimitris Roko (painter).
Since 2010 she has been teaching metal processing techniques and jewelry making with a teacher, the painter-jeweler Dimitris Nikolaidis and the silver and goldsmiths Lykourgos Grypaios and Giannis Roumanis. Collaborates with bookbinder Costas Boudouris in special applications for the presentation of paintings, engravings and handmade jewelry.
